Overview

I became hooked to this series when it first aired back 2005, sadly the group who were subbing it abandoned it when they lost their staff for the project. So it has been sitting on my hard drive gathering virtual dust. Earlier to day i was deleting old files and contemplating deleting this one, since it was unlikely to ever be finished subbed, near two years after the fact. When low and behold the group reappeared and released a batch file of all the missing episodes, so I’ve been having a Cluster Edge feast re-watching all the old episodes while downloading the new.

The opening song Fly High is really catchy, and is what nabbed me initially. Most shows can either win or lose me based on the opening song. However I was never fond of the ending songs, they always felt out of place for me.

The music through out the series is okay, nothing spectacular admittedly, but adequate and does the job. Where this series excels though is the plot line, it has an awesome plot line with awesome characters and character development. Throw into the mix the fast paced, straight for the jugular, action, you have a awesome show that has you on the edge of the seat from the get go.

For some reason however this series never really picked up on the fansub front, which I can’t figure since I really enjoyed it.

It does however have a huge failing, and that is the number of recap episodes. I’m not sure what they were thinking when they wrote this time line, but at one point we have a recap episode, action episode, then another recap episode. As if we’d forgotten everything that had been covered in the previous two episodes.

I suppose that could be enough to turn some people off the show, and I’ll admit that that did wear me down a bit. There were also a few unanswered question surrounding a few episodes that were never fully, or even, answered. However i feel that the action and story line makes up for its flaws.

The basic story however is pretty good. Agate Fluorite an odd transfer student at the elite school, Cluster Edge Academy. This is a school where the elite of the elite go for their education, even many of the aristocracy could not attend. Soon after, Agate’s unique perspective of looking at things influence Fon, a classmate who has always been bullied, he finds a new strength from spending time with Agate. Beryl Jasper is another that becomes influenced by Agate, first on the train in the first episode, then later on in other episodes. A unique bond has grown between these three. However, Agate isn’t human, its revealed he’s an artificial soldier, and a unique one at that. He has an odd ability to predict the events to come, and create what people call miracles by feeling the probability of things around him. Now he has both the military and other artificial soldiers out to kill him.

I’ll do a proper full season summary after I’ve finished watching the last six episodes that were released today.

In the mean time here’s the OP and ED for you to enjoy.
