About the Mangaka

It’s really frustrating from a reviewers perspective at just how little information there is available, in english, for Korean Manhwa-ga.

About the Manga

Another horrid volume that I frankly felt was a waste of time reading.

This is a very hard review to write, and I’ve re-written it a load of times already and still not really happy with it. Why? Because I can’t find anything worth praising about the volume. Only a few series have ever made me hate them with a vengeance, and usually it’s the fault of the english publisher, not this time.

Okay, lets look at the art. The cover is horrid on so many levels, not to mention doesn’t resemble any of the characters in the volume. And gods that background!!! Where are trapped in some sixties weird universe urgh.

The inside colour panels are, well, even worse. We have our token trap doing his girl impersonation.

Once we actually get into the volume the art does improve, and I will admit it has it’s moments of almost awesome art. Sadly these are few and far between and mostly just make the bad art look even worse.

The character designs are the worst however, especially the new ones for Neil and Alice, she looks like someone dumped a mop-head on her head. As for Neil, he represents the worst of the ganguro sub-culture.

Unfortunately the story makes the art even worse, it’s totally dull and predictable. Within the first few panels it was obvious what was going to happen and how they got there. For those that had read the previous volumes it was even worse, since we had pretty much guessed it with the end of the previous volume.

The story is so full of cliché’s it’s almost impossible not to groan at them as they crop up. The worst one being the older sister being home when no one was supposed to be.

The only thing I can praise is Yen’s handling of the volume, which is as usual excellent. The translation flows smoothly (well as smooth as it can) and is consistent. Only a few minor guttering issues, and good editing.

Sadly though I can’t recommend this series in fact I’d throw it on the junk pile and pick up some of the other titles they’ve released this month
