About the Mangaka

This time around I was able to find something out about them :)

Shin JiSang and Geo are actually a couple (as in they live together), and they collaborated on the project, with Geo doing the art, and Shin doing the story.

About the Manga

What can I say, this volume was awesome and bloody funny as well!!

This series feels like it’s going to be one of those that does well in one volume, but not so well in the nest. Sadly this is why it will never be on my Essential Read list, since I prefer a more consistent flow to my series.

This volume was definitely one of the good volumes, though it’s far from perfect. As with the previous volumes the biggest flaw in this series is definitely the art, which I really just can’t get used to.

I will however compliment the colour panels, which as always, do look pretty awesome. Be-Ri actually looks pretty awesome in the colour panels, shame it doesn’t carry on into the volume.

She does have her moments during the volume where she does actually look pretty decent, however as always overall she’s a pretty crap character design.

Oddly I’ve found the other character designs to have a better design and feel to them. Especially Erica, who is a typical hot babe, but her designs are pretty impressive.

Most of the other characters have okay designs, but I just feel they’re lacking something to make them really stand out. There are however two characters that are the opposite. Be-Ri’s grand-ma and Tsuyoshi’s gramps. These two characters have a perfect design and I don’t think they could be improved.

The story this volume is both amazing and bloody funny as it ends up cantering around and misunderstanding between the gramps and grand-ma. Their bantering is really the funniest thing and I love reading it.

The various interactions this volume really do make it one of the better volumes. Though I have to admit the fact that Be-ri and Tsuyoshi are still pussy-footing around their feelings for each other is a bit annoying, especially given the number of opportunities this volume to move their relationship along a bit more.

I have to admit the whole misunderstanding in this volume is bloody funny, especially since we’re outside looking in and can see all three sides and how easily it was to come to the misunderstanding. While it’s resolved fairly quickly between Be-ri and Tsuyoshi, I’m looking forward to how it’s handled with the others in the next volume.

The ending of the volume was fairly obvious, and a bit of a let down. Though given the way the volume had gone it was pretty obvious, and was done fairly well. The next volume should prove interesting, especially if we get to see the after-effects of what happened this volume.

My favourite characters this volume was definitely the cats, they always add a bit of entertainment to the volumes and this time it was no different.

Yen Press did a decent job as always, and Tsuyoshi’s broken Korean really comes into it’s own this volume. Also once again we have no real guttering which as always gets bonus points from me. Yen finally seem to have found the balance between the size of the panels and the guttering, something they had issues with early on. Nothing wrong with the translation as usual, it flows well and consistently.

Sadly this series will never be on my Essential Read list, though I do think it’s a good time filler series.
