About the Mangaka
Not a lot of info available on Lee Eun, and what is available seems to be conflicting. According to Wikipedia Lee is a film director, though there is no mention of this in the brief biography available at the front of this volume.
Her other manhwa include: Monica, The Eye of the Dragon and The Rebellion of the 36°Cs
About the Manga
Another awesome and yet confusing volume. I’m no longer sure of anything, and am just along for the ride hehe
Again I’m not really sure what to make of the art, this volume goes from extremes of amazing art to horrid art.
That said, I have to admit that I find the cover art stunning, and while it’s not in colour, the inner art is equally as amazing.
This volume is a prime example of this, Soon goes from being moderately good looking one panel, to plain old ugly in the next. I think if the art was more consistent I could say this would be one of the best series ever.
The story takes some weird twists this volume, and I have to admit to some confusion over what’s going to happen.
I’m really curious as to who Yang is now, and as to whether we’ll see him return to the series after the events of this volume.
Soon has proven an interesting character, though I’m still not sure what to make of her. Or of the hints she drops regarding to why Yang is at the Gift Shop.
The story used was a twist on the Little Mermaid story, and I found it hilarious, though a bit confusing. At first I couldn’t figure out how the story was relevant to the rest of the volume, and initially figured it was a stand alone. However it’s answered towards the end.
However the ending really makes me wonder just what the hell Yang is about more than anything else this volume, or in any of the previous volumes. I’m now eagerly waiting to see how Bun-Nyuh is going to handle the new darkness she’s found, and all alone, after betraying everything in the hopes of getting rid of the shop.
Yen Press did their usual exceptional job, a good smooth translation and consistency to it. A minor complaint about the editing, the border around the text is to small at times, making it hard to read. However the use of different fonts was well thought out and works really well.
