About the Mangaka

This time around I was able to find something out about them :)

Shin JiSang and Geo are actually a couple (as in they live together), and they collaborated on the project, with Geo doing the art, and Shin doing the story.

About the Manga

vvsweet_3

Oh god I nearly killed myself laughing over this volume, easily makes up for the previous volumes.

I totally forgot this was out this month, and have to admit it’s wasn’t a series I was interested in anymore. Sure volume two was a huge improvement over one, but it still lacked something to keep me interested. This volume found what it was lacking, and found it by the bucket full.

Geo’s art really seems to be growing on me, since I didn’t find it as horrid as I usually do. Or maybe I’m just becoming numb to it hehe. Like the previous volume, I really love the way he draws the chibi characters, and thankfully they aren’t over used this volume.

Be-Ri is just so damned funny in her chibi moments, whether its embarrassment, anger or comedy there’s just something about the designs that has me chortling away, whether I want to or not.

Art wise, I do have a couple of complaints though. Inoue Erica is supposed to be Japanese, but to me she looks more like one of those arrogant bitchy girls we used to see in american sitcoms and TV Shows. You know the rich bitch with a flashy car and attitude (se actually reminds me of Cordelia from Buffy Vamp Slayer >.<). She really doesn’t look anything like a japanese, which is a bit disappointing.

Also, as with a few other Korean manhwa, the male leads tend to be similar. In this series it’s the two main love rivals, Li Mi-Hyuk and Dan Mu-Ji. When we first see them in this volume they’re practically mirror images of each other, which is odd since one is Korean and the other Japanese. It’s not a huge thing at the moment, since they’re rarely together and the story clearly shows them separate. However if they come together to much it’ll be confusing.

Story wise this volume is pure comedy, and I loved it. We do get some of the actual story moving along, and some interesting character developments.

Also JiSang’s story lacks the forced aspect I’d noticed earlier, in fact this time  the story is free flowing. Given that that several of the characters use broken language, the free flowing is essential to stop you getting bogged down. The other good aspect is that the humour isn’t lost, it flows easily and actually makes sense and does cause you to laugh.

Tsuyoshi is especially funny this volume, and I love how his character feels more natural this time.

His grandfather was just classic, and the exchange between him and Be-Ri was by far the funniest of the volume. My only hang-up on the story was at the very end, I felt JiSang reveals to much about the depth of relationships that will come about.

I loved the extras in this volume, blaming the cats for not being able to meet deadlines hehe. And calling each other cheapskate and poopyhead. I spewed tea all over the keyboard reading those pages hehe

Yen once again did an excellent job with this volume. And this time we have titles and honorific’s left intact, and they’ve gone the next step and left name conventions intact. A small thing I know, but I like my manga and manhwa to be as close to the original as possible. I love the cover art, and the colour panel inside is nice, though not as cute as some others.

I’m not sure if this is something that Yen Press were responsible for, or a carry over from the original Korean version. However in the extras there are a number of photos of the cats interrupting their work, but we can barely see anything because they’re literally all black.

I’m really looking forward to the next volume, and hoping it’s as good as this one was.
