About the Mangaka
It’s really frustrating from a reviewers perspective at just how little information there is available, in english, for Korean Manhwa-ga.
If you have any information on Ha SiHyun , please drop me a message through the Contact Me page.
About the Manga
This volume was so bad I almost fell asleep while reading it
I finally got my hands on copies of the early volumes, and to be honest I’m all the more confused over what the hell is going on in this series.
Ha’s art in this volume is, in a word, atrocious. While the character designs themselves don’t change, the art around them is done really badly. One minute we have overly tones and black, the next we have almost transparent. It really doesn’t do anything other than put me off reading.
Then we have his chibi characters, all I can say is thank frell they weren’t around much in this volume. I like chibi characters, and when they’re used right they’re really good. However it seems that Ha still needs to learn a few things, such as how to draw chibi characters, and how to use them.
Story wise, it was pretty dull. While there was more of it this volume, it was still to generic and easily figured out.
The thing that’s bugging me is that the story really doesn’t seem to resemble the original story anymore. I’m left wondering what the hell is going on all the more. The heroin suddenly becomes the evil force, and damn the confusion really gets in the way of enjoyment.
By the end I wanted to shoot all of the characters, or perhaps just Ha. This volume lacks everything that makes a series good. The volume has no life, the characters have no presence, and you’d forget it a minute after putting it down.
I wish I could point to the way Yen Press handled this volume and say at least this is good, but in truth it’s not. For the first time I have some major complaints over the way they handled the volume.
Though, I will say at least they left the colour pages intact, which is about all I can say lol.
This volume suffers from really bad guttering, and one of the pages is miss-aligned resulting in part of the panel being missing. I checked both my review copy and the copy I bought, and both have the same page. I also checked the local stores copies, and three of the four copies they have had the miss printed page.
All in all, this was not a good volume, and this series is borderline trash pile now.
