About the Manga

Prepare to die laughing!!
This volume was awesome, and a complete change to the previous two volumes.
Although there was no significant change in the art style this volume,it did feel and flow more smoothly than in previous volumes. Also, the chibi style that I hate previously really worked well this volume. I was really surprised at just how well the art felt in this volume.
For me though the main dish was the story, we get some really good development in the main characters, and the introduction of what is now one of my favorite characters, Nan-Woo’s mum.
To be honest this volume had me rolling around laughing like mad from the outset. The comedy scenes we get this time around work really well.
It does look as though we’re going to get a bit of boy love as well, though it’ll be on the background.
I really hated Seung-Ha in the previous volumes, something about his personality really just rubbed me the wrong way. This time however his personality is more fleshed out. Sure he’s still the mean evil bugger towards Nan-Woo, but it’s more like he just enjoys seeing her flip out than deliberately trying to make her upset.
This is further shown by the way he does treat her at certain parts of the volume.
Though I loved Jae-Young (Nan-Woo’s mum), she’s not fooled by his attitude and sets him straight, several times. Truth be told I’m more interested in the way they’re going to handle each other.
The first time they meet though has got to be the pinnacle of the volume, it was just so damned funny.
Yen Press return and do an awesome job this volume. No guttering issues (YAY!!!), a good clean and smooth translation to boot. It read smoothly and didn’t feel out of place or forced as it has in parts of the previous volumes. They also include the extra pages, which this time are character profiles. This bit had me rolling around:
Q) I see Seung-Ha and Nan-Woo walking around holding hands….so tell me the story!!
A)Think of it as a leash. The kid keeps wandering off
If this is the way the future volumes are going to be, this will easily go on my Essential Read list. All depends on how YoungHee Lee develops in the future.

pfft! That Q & A you quoted is funny. Maybe I’ll check this out in the stores when I find it and have time to look through it.
