About the Mangaka

Not a lot available on JiUn Yun sadly. She made her professional debut in 2000 in a manhwa competition, however she had already become famous in the non-pro circles.

About the Manga

How bad can a volume get? The answer is very bad, this volume has every bad thing a manga can have, and not one of the good points.

Right from the outset the art in this volume is disgusting, in fact i’d go as far as to say it’s the worst i’ve seen.

Usually colour panel art is pretty good, however in this volume it’s dead, it’s flat and lifeless with no pressence or anything coming from it.

This carries on into the volume, and right from the outset the art has been over leveled and toned. As a result we have pretty much a two tone volume. This means there’s no life in it at all.

Usually mangaka are able to inject life into the volumes by adding perspective, as though drawing you into the volume. So as when a scene takes place on a street, the reader feels as though they’re there on the street. This series has none of that, reading it that’s all i was doing, reading. There was no sense of me experiencing or living the story.

Then as if to add insult to injury, the art went from dead and lifeless to pure crap in the space of a few pages. It was almost as if another person was hired to finish the volume, and they didn’t really care about it.

All told, the art was just the worst, and i don’t see how anyone can be considered a professional when it’s this bad. For someone who is supposed to be famous for her art skills this is abysmal.

Sadly the story fails this volume in a big way. To be honest it starts off fairly decently, but it quickly falls in to weirdness. What i’m finding really hard is keeping grips on who is who and who is dating who, and who hates who.

What’s worse is that the story is like the art, flat and lifeless. However at least it was consistent, to a point. Then suddenly it was like i was reading a different series, and then it changed again, and then again. By the end of the volume i was more confused over what had gone on than anything else.

I don’t understand just how a series can fail so badly, especially since the premis has potential. It’s a shame she never even seems to attempt to draw it out.

Yen Press did as good a job as they possibly could with this pile of *beep*. The translation was fine, but there was only so much they could do to the lifeless script. Needless to say it remains firmly on my Junk Pile list.

I wonder if anyone actually likes this series. If you do, please drop me a line, tell me what you like about the series and what i’m missing please!!
