Many thanks to Yen Press for providing a review copy

About the Mangaka

Not a lot of information on So-Hee Park unfortunately, this seems to be her second work, the first being Real Purple. She’s being working on manhwa since 2000 when she won the Seoul Media’s silver medal for Best New Manhwa Creator.

About the Manga

This volume wasn’t so bad, I actually managed to finish reading it, but….

Compared with volume two, I really liked this volume. However, sadly Park still insists on using those damned ugly chibi’s almost every other panel.

At first there was very few of the chibi’s in this volume, which gave Park a chance to show just how good she can draw. I found I really liked her art style, and while it was nothing special, it really fit the series story.

However the chibi came back with a vengeance and destroyed the story. To be honest the times she uses chibi’s aren’t really wrong. They are however a lot of times when ugly chibi’s shouldn’t have been used. There were several times where comical ones would have been better, and others where cute ones would of been better.

She really needs to learn how to add variety to the way she draws, as it is it’ll never be anything other than bad.

Oddly, I really got into the story this volume, and did enjoy it and finish the volume this time.

The way Shin treats ChaeKyung is abysmal, but it suits his personality, and the way she responds is equally fitting.

The thing I liked in this volume was the political wrangling that was going on. Characters you don’t expect to be, are evil and manipulative. It was really interesting to see how they worked things to get the results they wanted.

The cliff-hanger ending of the volume left me knocked for six though, it was totally out of a blind spot. On that aspect Park deserves praise, and I have to admit that it’s renewed my desire to read the future volumes.

Overall this volume would have been pretty damn good, if it wasn’t for Parks abysmal chibi’s. Truthfully I can’t even say the story could carry the series, because it can’t, not with art this bad. If it was just normal bad art I think the story would be enough, however the chibi’s are so bad I found myself wanting to skip the panels with them in, thus missing bits of the story. So I had to force myself to read them, which lessens the enjoyment of the story. All told, this volume is still a disappointment, though it is a huge improvement over the last volume.

Yen did a good job over all, no major guttering problems and the translation was smooth and flowed well. Can’t really say anything more than that without parroting all my other praises for Yen Press :D

Sadly though, I’m leaving this on my Junk Pile for a few more volumes. Unless either the art improves, or something amazing happens to change my mind, I can’t really recommend this series.
