About the Manga
What can I say, I liked this volume. However it wasn’t without it’s flaws.
Right off bat we have a rather nice cover image. While it’s not as good as the previous volume, it’s cute in it’s own way I guess.
Art wise I still have all my complaints from the previous volume, the tall skinny characters are annoying as hell. What’s more there are times when you can’t tell the male characters apart, there’s not enough difference between some of them to make a distinction. This is very confusing at times since you think you’re reading an interaction with one character, only to find it was really someone else.
For me this is very frustrating as I have to go back and read that part again. I can’t really get into it again having to keep going back and forwards just to keep a grasp of what’s going on, very frustrating!!
Also the guys are typically overly feminine, which is really starting to grate on me. I’ve nothing wrong with effeminate guys, but when every guy in the series is overly effeminate it becomes to much.
Thankfully though the story in this volume made up for it for me. Though I have to admit it was a bit EMO at times, the developments are great. I found myself enjoying the volume more than I did the first one, and the angst at the end of the volume was just right. Though some of the lines a bit on the corny side.
I did find the story was struggling however, though I think this could come from the issue I mentioned earlier of not always knowing who is who. I think if the character had more distinction the reading would have gone a bit smoother.
Part of the problem I think could have been that the characters have similar sounding names, which just adds to the confusion.
Yen did another good job on this volume, though like a lot of Korean titles, it has guttering issues. While it’s not to bad in this volume, I do think it’s an issue that could have been eliminated in volumes of this size.
The translation and editing was done well again this volume, with nothing really jumping off at me. Oddly though there’s no translators notes or extras this volume.
Overall I enjoyed this volume more than the previous, but it’s still no good enough to go my Essential Read List, and after re-reading the two available volumes, I doubt it ever will, it lacks the special oomph to make it great.
