About the Mangaka

This time around I was able to find something out about them :)

Shin JiSang and Geo are actually a couple (as in they live together), and they collaborated on the project, with Geo doing the art, and Shin doing the story.

About the Manga

It was with with more than a little anxiety that I started to read this volume, given what happened with volume one.

Thankfully though this volume was greatly improved over the first, in every area.

Geo’s art is still an acquired taste, but I seem to have acquired it cause I actually liked the art in this volume. True it’s pretty generic manhwa art, but it sorta fits the series.

The weird parts, when he chibifies the characters is pretty funny, and I had myself a few chuckles over them this volume. I especially loved the cat’s, the funny way he has of drawing them, and using them in the story has me in fits of laughter at times.

Story wise this volume is a lot better as well, it flows a lot better and makes more sense.

However if you’re looking for anything relating to the plot, forget it it. This is a typical brainless plotless story. What we do get though is a weird double love triangle. We have three going for Be-Ri, and three girls after Tsuyoshi.

As you expect from a love triangle it gets bloody funny, especially towards the end when Tsuyoshi’s ex comes looking for him.

Yen Press seem to have fixed the issues they had with the first volume, especially with the different languages. Japanese text is done in bold and encased between <> ( <like this> ) which makes it easier to distinguish. Though if it’s used for both Japanese and English, I can see it being an issue later on.

There was very little guttering in this volume, which is great, I hate guttering since it damages the book. They also included a lot of cultural references, which is awesome, it’s great they included a lot of things that could be misunderstood

I also loved the way they handled Tsuyoshi’s broken Korean, keeping it broken, with a few mistakes here and there. It made for fun reading.

Overall, I enjoyed this volume, and can happily say it doesn’t fall into my Junk Pile list, which it was in danger of doing. Though I can’t add it to my Essential Read list, it’s not  that good. Rather it’s nothing short of generic, everything about it is old hat. Though it has been done well this volume.
