Apple is the Korean version of Robot, it’s a collection of manhwa and art work, with a predomination of art.

This issue is a beast, and I mean that literally. It’s huge even by normal oversized manga standards. It’s a whopping 29.7cm by 20.6cm by 1.8cm, and weighs a ton as well. All of this makes it hard to hold properly to read, you need to rest it on a desk or something to really get into it.
Quality wise it’s astounding. Thick and glossy pages, sexy slip cover, and full colour. There’s twelve chapters of manhwa and dozens of individual art. Overall I have to admit the individual art is better than the manhwa. Out of the twelve chapters only two were really any good. The rest were nonsensical, and some were drawn to weird for my liking.
It seems apple is trying to bring together the most bizarre titles out there, and in this respect they succeed spectacularly.
Where this series does excel however is in the individual art work, some of which are stunningly beautiful.
A lot of the art has a sexy fantasy twist, with women and girls in skimpy outfits slaying monsters and stuff. Pretty much the same sort of art books you get over here, such as Boris Vallejo.
However this has a huge burden on it, and that’s the cost. Buying it from a specialist store will end up costing around £26 in the UK. In the US and Canada it’s $35. I just don’t see it as being worth the cost.
The manhwa included is hardly earth shattering good, a lot of them are frankly uninteresting and don’t make any sort of sense.
I doubt I’ll be getting the second issue that due for release at the end of October.
Overall I can’t find anything to make it worth the cost, even at the reduced cost of the likes of amazon, I can’t see it as being worth it. I’ve ordered volume one of Robot, and hope it’s better than this.
