About the Manga

This is another I’m picking up part way through the series. And it’s a series I’ve just finished ordering the previous five volumes!!
Like Legend this series is drawn by KARA, and her (or his) art is stunning. The comedy aspects of the series match KARA’s art style perfectly.
Lee’s story is interesting, and a bit confusing. Not sure if it’s a shojo or shonen-ai series. While the story revolves around two male leads, one of them is a female in a male body, so it could be classed as either one hehe
I like the characters he has created, they’re interesting, funny, and at the same time a bit creepy.
KARA’s art is upto the usual standards I’ve come to like, after Legend, it’s clean, crisp, and clear. It’s also great to see them teamed up with an excellent storyteller
The colour panels in this volume are beautiful, actually beyond that, they’re stunning.
True it’s hard to judge a story properly from a single volume, especially when that volume is in the middle of the series, however from the flow and consistency of the volume you can get a fair idea of what’s past, and what’s to come.
Unlike Legend, which has forced and ill fitting humour, Angel Diary has excellent humour and it fits.
Lee’s story flows perfectly through the volume, both the humour and tension are well placed. There is a lot of development in the characters, a lot more than is usually seen in a single volume, and going from the content of the volume I get the impression the story is fast flowing.
This is yet another of IceK’s titles that Yen Press acquired, and as always they did an excellent job with it. Translation was smooth and consistent with no discernable hiccups. What made my day was no major guttering problems. There were some minor ones, but they in no way hindered the text or the images, which is the primary concern for me.
They leave the colour panels intact, as well as the creator comments by KARA and Lee.
Even though it’s being picked up mid series I’ve no hesitation adding this title to my Essential Read list. Something about this volume just made me love it, and buy the early volumes.
If like me this is a new series to you, I can and readily recommend it.
As soon as the first five volumes arrive I’ll do a full in depth review.

Oh, I love Angel Diary! Kara also created Demon Diary, which is adorable. =3 They’re a manhwa duo, actually, and a good place for info is here: http://demon.mireene.com/main.shtml
