About the Manga

This is another I’m picking up part way through the series, and much like Cynical Orange I haven’t quite made my mind up yet. When I was reading the volume I was initially dubious about it, but by the end I was enjoying it.

Kang’s art isn’t the best I’ve seen, but it is solid and consistent, something a lot of manga lack.

Though the thing I do find annoying is that the characters are all skinny, with insanely long arms and legs. At times this has a rather odd appearance, especially when you see the same character a few pages later with normal arms and legs.

The cover art for this volume caught my eye it’s clean, vibrant and alive, overall it’s probably the best of all the art work in the volume.

Picking up the story at volume four makes it a little hard to follow properly, but from what I read I saw hints of a good story. The progression in the volume was interesting, though the story seems to be a generic love triangle.

The way the characters interacted with each other added some extra spice though, making use of the generic story to it’s fullest.

It’s really hard judging a series from one volume, especially when it’s a volume from part way through the series. However going from what I’ve read and felt, I have high hopes for this series, I’ve also just ordered the previous volumes.

Kang is far from being a great artist or storyteller, however she has consistency in both elements. Even the bits I don’t like (such as the arms and legs) are consistent, this is a rarity.

I’m hoping that when I read the first three volumes the missing bits will fall into place :)

Yen Press have done their usual good job on this title, though I have to admit it feels a bit sparse. The other titles I’ve read recently had colour panels at the front, this one doesn’t. Whether it was like this in the original release, or a panel removed, I have no idea. However the lack of a panel feels off to me. Though I guess that could be because all I’ve read lately are Korean titles that had colour pages :)

Translation wise, there was nothing glaringly wrong, though this title suffers from bad guttering problems at times. Also, oddly, it appears that two pages were left un-translated in the release. Towards the end of the volume there are a number of speech bubbles that have nothing in them. I’ve shot an email off to Yen, and will post an update when I get a reply.

Since this is volume four, and I haven’t read the other volumes yet, I can’t add it to my Essential Read list. However if I still feel the same way after reading the first three volumes I can guarantee it being added :)

Where to Buy

As always, Waterstones, the Book Depository, and the Little Brown Store are the place to head over to. This title is due for release on the 15th July
