About the Manga
This is another series I hadn’t heard of till it turned up, and all I can say is WHERE WAS IT!!!
Baek’s art is standard for this type of manga, though it is more consistent quality wise than Geo’s Chocolat. At times her (or his) art is drawn in comedy style, and frankly I ended up hating this volume because it hurt my rib laughing >.<
Laughing as much as this caused me to, with broken ribs, hurts like hell!!
The story in this volume had was really well written and I fell in love with the series, so much so I ordered the other four volumes at 2am after I finished reading this volume hehe
The story is well written, and flows really well. One of the main aspects of the story, the humour, was exceptionally well handled. Often it can be misplaced or forced, it’s neither here; rather it flows naturally and perfectly complimenting the story.
One of the benefits of doing both the story and the art shines through in this volume, the script and the art match perfectly. Often where it’s two people working on the series there can be a mismatch at times between the script and art.
It’s clear that Baek loved working on this series, and I’m looking forward to getting the previous volumes.
However, there was one area of concern is the epilogue chapter. I’m hoping it’ll make more sense after reading the entire series. If it doesn’t that will become the weak part of the series. As it stands this chapter makes little sense in the scheme of the story.
Yen did a superb job on this volume, as I’ve come to expect from them, there are no obvious translation errors. However this volume suffers at times, from sever gutter problems. While these are sever, they’re not on the level to do damage to the book itself, however I’m not a fan of having to bend books to far to read them.
Naturally, this goes right in on my Essential Read list, after reading this volume alone I can see this is a series worth getting. Now I just have to wait for the volumes I ordered to arrive, then I’ll do a full series review, as well as update my thoughts on this volume.
