I couldn’t find any info on Sirial sorry.

About the Manga

Nothing really to say about this volume, other than cuteness to the max!!

The cuteness of this series can not be underestimated!! It sooths even the hardest heart hehe.

The cover of this volume, like the previous one, is amazing. Bright, vibrant, alive, and showing off perfectly just how and what the story is about. I especially liked that the title and mangaka’s name weren’t over-powering.

The colour pull out is equally amazing, and again it shows off the cuteness of the series perfectly.

The art carries on being light an airy throughout the volume, and I love all the more the way the series feels. As I said in my volume one review the way Sirial balances the changing character designs works really well.

We get introduced to a couple of new characters this volume, and I’m a little torn. The first of them, the Chick Gang, just didn’t have any presence to me, and I’m hoping they aren’t going to be a recurring group.

The other though, the street cat, was perfect. The couple of stories with him in them were funny and engaging. I liked his character design, and his personality was refreshing and lively. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him in future volumes.

Story wise it’s impossible to really judge a series like this, since it has no story per say. Rather it simply follows the characters miss-adventures through their dally lives.

TBH I like this approach, given the large amount of seinen and josei titles I’ve been reading lately that are rather heavy on the story side, this makes for a nice change.

The other thing I like about this is that it’s perfect for kids to get into. It’s light and free flowing, and a perfect series to introduce younger kids to manga and manhwa.

I have absolutely no complaints in regards to Yen Press’ handling of this series. No guttering, a great translation, and excellent lettering and font choice. It was an excellently handled volume that’s a credit to the Yen Press team.

Needless to say this series makes my Essential Read List, I think most people can enjoy it simply for what it is. A funny, light hearted intermission read; as in a series you read when you simply want a break from thinking to much

About the Mangaka

Sadly I couldn’t find anything out about YoungHee Lee. If you have any info please drop me a line through the Contact Me page.

About the Manga

I really don’t know what to make of this series anymore. Finally the lead girl actually gets to look and act like the lead.

If I’m honest I liked the cover, though it does feel a bit crowded with the title and border. However the first colour panel is the cover without either, and it looks awesome.

The next set of colour panels all look good as well. I was especially pleased to see Nan-Woo actually looking like a girl for once, and boy does she look good.

The sad thing about this series is that while I was reading it I realised how anorexic almost all of the characters were. This volume has a lot more of Seung-Ha’s family in it, and damn they all look sick, and like a sneeze would blow them over. His father especially looks bad, and just looking at him made me want to have a snack.

I have to admit however that there was a lot of good art in this volume. Most of it mid to later on, when we see the two love birds together again. There was some odd art thrown in for bad measure as well.

Story wise we get a good strong volume, with a lot going on and all the left over bits and pieces wrapped up nicely.

The best thing for me though was seeing Nan-Woo actually being the lead character for once, rather than her being eclipsed by those around her.

I liked seeing the way she took on Seung-Ha’s father, and practically beat him up. I did think Seung-Ha’s father was a bit weird, one minute going all gung ho at Nan-Woo then going all friendly with her. The change itself wasn’t unexpected, I just felt it could have been handled a bit better.

I also liked the way the Jay x Hyun-Ho relationship was wrapped up. Though I have to admit that I think they would have been better off with their own manhwa. All to often in this series I found their relationship eclipsed Nan-Woo and Seung-Ha’s. The way they finally got together had me laughing, it was done perfectly and in a bloody funny way.

I was also happy with the way that Lee resolved Seung-Ha’s internal conflicts. Watching him battle with himself and the conclusions he came to was really fun, if a bit predictable. Especial with the way Nan-Woo crops up in his delusion.

I loved the way Seung-Ha argued with his mother over Nan-Woo as well, I thought those panels were done amazingly, both art and story. though given the way the story was handled throughout the series the outcome was a given.

However I was a bit disappoint with the way the funeral and Seung-Ha’s handling of his emotions. Though I feel that was probably due to limited page count. The way it plays out though was pretty much expected, and even clichéd. Yet at the end I found I couldn’t hate the overly used cliché elements, I found they worked really well and was a good ending.

Yen Press do their usually high quality work with this release. No major guttering to speak of, and the translation was smooth with a good flow to it. The editing and fonts choice were all good as well. Easy to read and follow with no miss-aligned text.

All told it’s a good series, but several, well, one aspect stops it from getting on my Essential Read List. The character designs. They’re all to anorexic and lack any sort of sex feel to them. Also Nan-Woo is a useless character that is frequently eclipsed by those around her. However taking everything into account, I still think it’s a good read and one worth trying.

About the Mangaka

Not a lot of info available on Lee Eun, and what is available seems to be conflicting. According to Wikipedia Lee is a film director, though there is no mention of this in the brief biography available at the front of this volume.

Her other manhwa include: Monica, The Eye of the Dragon and The Rebellion of the 36°Cs

About the Manga

For a final volume of a series, this has got to be one of the weirdest I’ve seen for a long time.

I love the cover of this volume, it’s bright and alive. Sadly the actual cover is a bit faded compared to the image above, and the colours look a bit washed out. However it still has that warmth to it that makes it a good cover.

Like the previous volume I have issues with some of the inner art, which just doesn’t look or feel right. However there are also times when the art looks amazing, and has a real depth and atmosphere to it.

I find it a real shame that the art is so inconsistent through out this last volume. Though as I said, some art is great, especially in the later part of the volume when we get some traditional clothing. These are stunning, though short lived.

A lot of the weird art feels deliberate though, and while I can by some of it, others I can not.

Not really much else to say on the art that I haven’t said before, so I wont repeat myself.

Where this volume really lost me however was the story. The beginning of the volume carries on from where the last volume leaves off. But the events are carried out in a fast pace, which frankly left me wondering, yet again, what the hell was going on.

The first part of the story sort of makes sense, and yet doesn’t. Even after rereading the previous volume. While parts of it made sense, some key parts, didn’t. The next part feels really weird, and again while it made some sense parts of it really didn’t.

However I did like the the back story in the second part. Watching it play out was certainly interesting, and I like how elements of Korean historical beliefs were worked into the story.

However here’s where the story gets weird, as elements are revealed that to me don’t make any sense. The ending, sort of makes sense, and I have to admit I felt a bit sad over the ending. However the bits that came next really didn’t make sense, since it felt like it was contradicting what it had just said.

Maybe part of the problem is that I haven’t read the first few volumes, I’m still holding off waiting for the Yen Press re-release, but I’ll probably end up buying the IceK releases in the hope that the begging volumes will help me make sense of this series ending.

There was some minor guttering in this volume, but it wasn’t to bad, and certainly not enough to damage the spine. The translation was smooth and flowed well with no errors. The fonts and editing in this volume were good as well, with it it being easy to read and follow, with no miss-aligned text.

As it stands at the moment this title is on my Essential Read List, however I’m no longer sure it belongs there. Once I’ve read the missing volumes I’ll make a decision, but I am hoping that it ends up making sense.

However despite the issues I have with this series, it was a great read, and I did enjoy the individual stories. It’s definitely a series I would recommend.

Couldn’t find anything on JinJun Park

About the Manga

Dang this series is really starting to take an interesting twist. Word of warning though, if like a friend of mine, your a devout christian, you may want to stop reading, since this volume (according to her) will be offensive.

Again, I really hate the title placement on the cover. With a smaller title we would have a pretty decent cover. Irel looks pretty cool swinging his rifle around.

The art inside the volume still feels bloody ugly at times, and yet at others it works really well. Over the course of the volume I found myself liking the art style more and more.

That’s not to say this isn’t a series without it’s flaws. This volume starts off with a huge fight, and I felt this would have been an epic chance for Park to strut his stuff and come up with some stunning scenes.

And yes, we do get some really amazing scenes, such as Lamia chasing after a bus, then the scene where she’s just landed on the bus, and a few others. However we also have to deal with some really cramped and cluttered fight scenes.

The fight moves to a construction site, and chaos ensues. However chaos is also what the art looks like, it’s very hard to follow what’s going on in those panels because they’re small and cramped, or even large and cramped. To much is going on so they feel cluttered.

The biggest grief I have with this series is the inconsistencies in the character designs. Granted they aren’t really bad, but they are clearly noticeable. One minute the characters are fine, the next they look and feel squashed, and on a few occasions don’t really look like the characters they’re supposed to be.

That said this volume introduces two lovely characters that I want to see more of, two cat girls They’re introduced as being a form of lycanthrope, but I have to say they were drawn so cute!!

Lamia is her usual sullen, dark and gothic killing machine for the first part of the volume, and damn does she look hot doing it. However she gets a quasi-catholic school girl change for later on in the volume, which if I’m honest I’m not so sure about.

As the volume progresses the stark black and white, with very few in betweens, really grows on you. However at times it also feels like it’s out of place, and the art could have looked better with more in the way of shadows and tones.

As with the previous volume the characters all look like they have caterpillars around their eyes. Their eyelashes are huge, compared to usual manga/manhwa style. However they aren’t as bad as the last volume, and this time around, for the most part, I actually liked the look.

The very end of the volume is very disturbing however, and the bit my friend Meg felt was offensive. More on this later!!

The story development in this volume was pretty good, as was the character development. Some elements were clichéd, others were rather surprising. All told I thought it was a good balance.

Clarion, who joins the Irel/Lamia team this volume is an interesting character. While she doesn’t get on with Lamia her relationship with Irel could be interesting to watch. Especially since she used to be an enemy. As a character in her own right I rather liked her. She has a cute side to her viciousness that really worked well in this volume. She really got to grow and come to the fore this volume.

The relationship between Irel and Lamia also gets a bit of work, with more depth to their relationship being added. What I really liked though was that there was no love aspects in the relationship. Lamia certainly has the ability and the personality to fill a tsundere role, but I like her as she is right now, and I hope a love aspect wont just be introduced for the sake of it.

We also get more information on the “bad guys” of the series. Though I can’t really call them the bad guys just yet, since frankly they’re pretty much doing the same thing as Lamia. However it’s fairly certain they’re being set up as the bad guys from the way this volume played out, not to mention certain truths about Clarion that are revealed.

Chris and Grace have the potential to be an interesting pair, and look forward to seeing how this plays out. Especially since Chris seems to be more warped than your average cop and has leapt to some rather weird conclusions. I didn’t really like him last volume, and while I’m still not a fan, he’s growing on me.

Grace on the other hand is a perfect innocent bystander who has been caught up in it all, and now having to run for her life.

The ending of this volume is as I said the disturbing part. As we know from the last volume the story revolves around the Holy Grail and the so called Blood of Christ. Nothing new here, there’s been hundreds if not thousands of stories like this. However another aspect is introduced as a cliff hanger this volume, and I have to admit me as a total non-christian found myself cringing over it.

I don’t think it’s bad, far from it. If Park plays it right it’ll be a huge awesome story hook. However it’s a fine edge he’s walking between awesome hook and a pile of crap that’ll tick people off.

Either way though I can’t wait for the next volume

Yen Press did their usual great job with this release. There was no major guttering, which is always good. The few bits that were, were images and not text, so didn’t require the spine damaging bending to see. Great use of fonts and lettering placement, and of course a great smooth translation.

As it stands right now I really like this series. However it doesn’t have the right feel to go on my Essential Read List. Maybe this will change over the coming volumes, but as it stands now, I think it’s a well worth read, but not an essential read.

Not a lot available on JiUn Yun sadly. She made her professional debut in 2000 in a manhwa competition, however she had already become famous in the non-pro circles.

About the Manga

What can I say, this was an awesome read. Though admittedly a liiiiitle bit weird.

Art wise I have no complaints, quite the opposite in fact. The more I read of this series the more I fall in love with it.

As you can see we have another pretty cool cover, though the girly guy is a pet peeve of mine hehe. There are a sort of colour panel inserts, single colour ones, and these are nice. Though I have to admit looking at them it’s easy to confuse the two guys for two gals.

Truthfully this is the one aspect of the manhwa I don’t like, it’s full of guys that look like girls. Would be nice if the volume had more guys looking like guys.

The art for the volume is both stunning, and chilling. The scenery art is amazing with lavish details. There are sliding panels in the volume that have had lavish designs drawn on them and they look breath taking.

The individual story art is also extremely well done as well, with subtle changes in the overall feel to match the story. At times the art takes a minimalist slant, and I have to admit it works really well. A simple face outline, or just an eye, the simple use really does a great job of conveying the emotions.

I was never keen on JiUn Yun’s art in Cynical Orange, but I have to admit I can find nothing wrong with his art in this volume (with the exception of the girly men hehe).

I did find the stories this time around a little weird, and a bit confusing, especially the first one. This first story was carried on from volume one, and at first it sound like your normal girl in love and after a love potion. But it gets really weird towards the end and I found myself wondering what was going on. Though I have to admit I still loved it

The next story, with a simple title of Love, was simply amazing. As I was reading it I started of laughing, since it opens really funnily. However as the chapter progresses I found myself feeling anger, sympathy, and even getting a lump in my throat. The ending left me a little heart wrenched, misty eyed and a boulder in my throat.

The next story, while just as good and well written, didn’t really evoke the emotions, however I did still enjoy it. Part of the issues with this chapter I felt was the heavy cultural meanings behind the characters. And while it did make sense when I read the glossary, I still felt as though a bit of the magic was gone.

Out of the past two volumes chapter two of volume two is by far my favourite, since it’s the only chapter that really moved me while I was reading. Yun managed not just to bring the characters to life, but to also bring out the emotions of the characters, as well as me the reader. Something very few manga can do well.

The afterword was bloody funny as well. He explains about the currency, and I have to admit I couldn’t help but laugh with the thought of Baek-On pulling around wheel barrow full of cash while of to buy a courtesan hehe.

Once again Yen Press did an awesome job with this release. We get a glossary of terms used, which is a god sent since there are a number of cultural references in the volume that the reader really needs to understand before they can understand what’s happening.

The translation is good and smooth which flows great without feeling rewritten. The editing and font usage are perfect, especially the fonts. I love the creepy fonts for the ghosts and stuff.

There was a bit of guttering in this volume, but none of it on text areas, so it doesn’t damage the spine. But there are several times where we have large images going all the way back to the spine, but even just lightly opened you can still see them well.

All said and done I’m happy to add this series to my Essential Read List, it more than deserves spot on it.

About the Mangaka

I couldn’t find any info on Sirial sorry.

About the Manga

This was actually a hard title to review, mainly because nothing happens. However I have to admit that I love it. It’s one of those titles you can pick up up and read a chapter or two and then put away again, without losing the thread of the story. This is also why it makes a good kids title, and is a great replacement for World of Quest.

I’ve rewritten this review a few times because it was a big post with nothing in but repetition. So sadly this post has been pruned down and now is fairly short. But that doesn’t detract from how much I love this series.

One of the first things you’ll note about this series is the art style. It’s very unique, not to mention so light and airy if you drop the book it’ll probably float away heheh

The cover alone should give you an indication of what to expect. For what it’s worth I love the cover as well It’s bright, vibrant, full of life and just so damned cute. Also the title doesn’t feel like it’s in the way, rather it’s perfectly placed.

The colour pull out is even cuter and just looks amazing. All the more since it’s done on a white backdrop.

The light and airy feel carries on into the volume and only gets better. Recently a lot of manga I’ve read, while being awesome, has been full of rigid and sharp lines. Big and bold and in your face. At times it’s almost as if they were drawn, digitised and then touched up. This isn’t a bad technique and works well, but it does give the art a sort of false feel.

One Fine Day may well have been done like that as well, I don’t know. What I do know is that it doesn’t feel or look that way. Rather it looks like all the art was drawn by hand, inked in then went straight to the printers. This gives it a sort of life like feel missing from other series.

The art also feels more life like because there a subtle changes in the character designs throughout the volume. None of them impact on the art, but they do make the art feel more real and living.

One of the elements of this series I love are the character designs. Sirial merges the three designs for the three animals perfectly. It seamlessly flows from a normal animal, to a child with animal ears, and a little child in an animal suit. I have to admit that I find the animal suit ones (especially the mouse) just so adorably cute.

The other good element is the way he melds talking animals and humans together. There’s no sense of it being wrong or out of place.

Unfortunately I can’t really comment on the story, cause well, there isn’t one. This is one of those “day in the life” series which just meander through the lives of the characters. There’s no set story (or none revealed in volume one at least), and just follows their misadventures as they go through their daily lives. Whether it’s meeting a new friend, getting lost, making cookies, or getting over the flu, it’s all here.

I have to admit I’ve not read many titles that have been as well done as this one with a good unique art style that make it an absolute joy to read repeatedly.

However it’s also one of those you can pick up and put down after only a chapter or two without losing out on the story. More importantly it’s one of those that kids can really get into I think.

Yen Press did an excellent job with this release, the cute cover and pull out are just amazing, and I’m glade they didn’t decide to pull the pull out and go with a simple black and white image. The translation looks and feels smooth and true and lacks any sense of falseness that would hint to a rewrite, and flows really well.

I was also happy to find almost no guttering, and the few bits that were there weren’t to bad. My only gripe would have been the translation of SFX’s, however since this is a kids book, I can understand why and the necessity for it. However even that didn’t bug me much

Font choice was good for the most part, though a few of the SFX fonts were a bit OTT for my liking and to overpowering, taking over the panel more than I feel was good. The editing was as always pretty awesome as well, with nothing to comment about it. I’m glad they chose fonts that fitted well with the atmosphere of the volume and the art style.

Overall this series easily earns it’s place on my Essential Read list, if only for it’s cuteness factor

Also don’t forget you can read more of One Fine Day in Yen Plus, the monthly anthology from Yen Press.

About the Mangaka

Couldn’t find anything on YoungBin Kim or Hyun You sorry

About the Manga

Laon took me by surprise in a big way. I first saw it as a preview in an issue of Yen Plus and my initial thoughts were “naff”. However the volume really took me by surprise by it’s changes and developments, and I now find I wish this was in Yen Plus proper so I don’t have to wait for the next volume.

The cover design is definitely unique, and while I find it has grown on me some I wasn’t to keen on it originally. Partly I think because of the colouring used, it makes the art look worse than it really is.

The art of the volume is pretty inconsistent, ranging from crap to okay. What’s really weird is tends to change from page to page which makes it very annoying, not to mention unsatisfying to look at.

That said I did like the colour pages at the beginning, I thought they set up the volume with a great atmosphere which gets better as the volume goes on. Also those pages meant that the next few pages, which were sample pages, make a lot more sense.

For me though, while the art is a bit of an issue, it’s not as a big a one as it would have been. Mainly because the story and developments in the volume are amazing.

Laon is a really fun lead character and through out the volume I found I was growing more and more attached to her. The way she acts was funny, and the darkness she shows occasionally, compared with her cute and childish side, really makes for an excellent combo.

I do hope we get to see more of the first character we were introduced to as well, Yu-Jin was a really interesting and likeable character. My initial reaction was a throw away character, the usual spoiled brat with a chip on her shoulder, but as the story progressed I really warmed up to her. While she does have the usual elements, I liked how she was and was sad to see her and Laon part.

The new partners we get for Laon, so far at least, haven’t really grabbed me. Tae-Ha really doesn’t feel right for me, I think part of it is the way he’s been drawn. Everything about him screams criminal, and then when he kidnaps Laon and finds out she’s a girl, well, he looks all the more like a pedo.

The other characters all have their own issues as well. Gyu-Jin is probably the designed out of the lot, but his personality is so flat and weak you forget about him as soon as you leave the panel. Young-Shin wasn’t in long enough to leave any sort of impact, but he feels like the generic womaniser, and finally Sung-In, who is definitely the best drawn character in the entire volume. That’s pretty much all there is to say about her, since she wasn’t around for much.

As usual Yen Press did an excellent job with this release, a nice smooth translation with nothing feeling out of place. The choice of fonts for the editing was well done as well, I especially liked Laon’s angry fonts. We also get a load of translators notes at the end, which are needed since as always Yen opt to leave the localizations alone.

Overall I found I loved this volume, yes it has it flaws, and it’s characters aren’t the best. However Laon, so far, is able to carry the series on her own. Though I am hoping that the other characters grow over the next volume or two. Though, as it stands now, I have no qualms about adding it to my essential read list.

Couldn’t find anything on JinJun Park

About the Manga

I wasn’t expecting much from this series, something about the name was off putting, and when I saw the cover I just hated it. But oddly I found it growing on me over the course of the volume.

The first time I read this volume I hated it, the cover is ugly, and I found the art inside mediocre to the point I didn’t want to read it anymore. So I went and read Pandora Hearts. When I came back to the second read through I had a different opinion of the volume.

I still hate the cover, but after thinking it over and looking at it a few times I think it’s more the title placement that ruins the cover for me.

The inside art is a bit crap as well, but I have to admit that it has a certain appeal that grows on you as you read through it though.

While it’s hard to judge a series on it’s first volume, this one has some really interesting character designs and characters. Though the art art is never really what I like, and feels a bit cramped and crowded at times.

The various characters introduced this volume have a fairly decent design, though Lamia really doesn’t appeal to me. Several scenes we’re given a close up of her face, and rather than eye lashes she has bushes surrounding her eyes, I really hate that.

Unfortunately the art is also spoiled a bit by overly large SFX’s and then their english version as well. Though I also found the style, pure black and white, with very few shades of grey, also made the art seem more crowded than it was.

Where this volume really got me though was the story, which is refreshingly new and vibrant. Like all the best series it has elements of mystery, suspense and horror. Lamia looks to be where the really fun stuff is going to take place, her character is well developed and really intrigues me.

Irel is also a pretty interesting character, though I found him a bit lacking in the personality department. However I have to admit given that this entire volume is one long set of action, there really wasn’t time for him to develop personality wise.

I have to admit that I now have gone from hating to liking with high expectations for this series.

Something about the story, really has it’s hooks on me. Various stories over the years have used the crucifixion and holy grail in various ways, but I think this is the first time I’ve seen it set up in this manner. I’m always game for a new take on an old setting

I loved the high paced action, and the way the stage was set with the three opposing sides. Though I can see this being reduced to two next volume. The thing that really surprised me however was that I fell in love with the characters straight away.

Lamia has the whole mystery aspect going one, and while her origins are revealed this volume, it’s from a highly suspicious source making it most likely a lie. I cant wait to see how she develops and to how she really came about.

Clarion is another character that has my curiosity, I wasn’t keen on her initially, but towards the end of the volume she gains that special spark that makes characters unique, and makes the reader feel for them.

Irel, the other main lead is interesting for another reason. He’s supposedly a student working with his professor researching the Holy Grail and the myth of the Blood of Jesus. Yet he seems to be a lot more, rather than a simple student I got the impression he was a modern-day Indiana Jones. He’s another character I’m looking forward to see how he develops, and to learning more about how he came to be the way he is.

I would love to say Yen Press did a perfect job on this title, but I can’t. I can’t stand the cover, and it’s that titles fault. It’s a horrid colour and overpowers the image, which in all fairness is pretty damn good. If they’d made the title as small as it was on the insert art the cover would have been great.

That said, there was next to no guttering in this volume, which surprised me. Also the translation was good as always, with a nice flow and consistency. The editing was okay, and easy to read and follow.

Overall it was a pretty decent start to a series and one I’m really interested in seeing how it goes. I’m eagerly looking forward to volume two.

A quick warning, this volume does contain some rather graphic violence, as well as cannibalism. Which is why it has an Oder Teen rating (16+). While I personally didn’t find either aspect over the top or overly used, be warned they are in there, and will probably be a recurring factor. Especially the cannibalism, which I found to be more creepy than anything TBH.

About the Manga

This series is nothing but a confused mess, but if I’m honest I can’t bring myself to hate it, in fact I find I tend towards loving it.

As with the previous volume this one is confusing as hell, though not as bad. For the most part it flows well, though there a re a few pages I’m pretty damned sure must have been printed out of sequence since they make no sense where they were hehe.

I love the cover art of this volume, it looks simply awesome; but I’m biased since one of my fave characters is on it. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the pull out, which I think is bloody ugly.

Once again the character designs are all over the place, and several key characters have had their designs changed, again. Even the characters which have roughly kept their designs feel wrong.

However the art isn’t all bad, in fact there a re quite a few well designed and drawn pages this volume. Several of them are as good as the cover art and make up for the rest of the bad designs IMO.

The story is a lot better this volume, with it flowing really well. Except for one are which seems to me to be totally in the wrong place.

The story is a lot more solid this volume, and easier to follow and understand. While the general plot still feels like a total mess, the developments in this volume made sense and led to some really amazing character development.

And that’s why I can’t hate this series, despite all of it’s flaws it has a set of characters that I’ve really grown to like, and in a few cases hate. It’s a shame that Lee isn’t able to write a more coherent story, and keep her designs stable, if she had this would have been an awesome series.

Yen do their usual great job with this volume, no guttering to speak of, and a good translation with good flow and consistency. No extras this volume, just a few ads for other series. Also sadly this is the last volume of Moon Boy that will be released for a while as it’s an ICE-K title, and Yen don’t seem to have relicensed it as of yet.

It’s really frustrating from a reviewers perspective at just how little information there is available, in english, for Korean Manhwa-ga.

If you have any information on Ha SiHyun , please drop me a message through the Contact Me page.

About the Manga

Another horrid volume that I frankly felt was a waste of time reading.

This is a very hard review to write, and I’ve re-written it a load of times already and still not really happy with it. Why? Because I can’t find anything worth praising about the volume. Only a few series have ever made me hate them with a vengeance, and usually it’s the fault of the english publisher, not this time.

Okay, lets look at the art. The cover is horrid on so many levels, not to mention doesn’t resemble any of the characters in the volume. And gods that background!!! Where are trapped in some sixties weird universe urgh.

The inside colour panels are, well, even worse. We have our token trap doing his girl impersonation.

Once we actually get into the volume the art does improve, and I will admit it has it’s moments of almost awesome art. Sadly these are few and far between and mostly just make the bad art look even worse.

The character designs are the worst however, especially the new ones for Neil and Alice, she looks like someone dumped a mop-head on her head. As for Neil, he represents the worst of the ganguro sub-culture.

Unfortunately the story makes the art even worse, it’s totally dull and predictable. Within the first few panels it was obvious what was going to happen and how they got there. For those that had read the previous volumes it was even worse, since we had pretty much guessed it with the end of the previous volume.

The story is so full of cliché’s it’s almost impossible not to groan at them as they crop up. The worst one being the older sister being home when no one was supposed to be.

The only thing I can praise is Yen’s handling of the volume, which is as usual excellent. The translation flows smoothly (well as smooth as it can) and is consistent. Only a few minor guttering issues, and good editing.

Sadly though I can’t recommend this series in fact I’d throw it on the junk pile and pick up some of the other titles they’ve released this month
